Alfa Romeo has announced the official start of celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the legendary Quadrifoglio brand, a historic expression of noble Italian performance dating back to 1910.

The Chrysler Pacifica continues to reinvent the minivan, a segment Chrysler invented 40 years ago.

Alfa Romeo Begins Celebrating 100th Anniversary of Quadrifoglio by Revealing New Logo

February 9, 2023 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Alfa Romeo has announced the official start of celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the legendary Quadrifoglio brand and the 60th anniversary of Autodelta with new logos that will serve as symbols of performance excellence for the premium Italian brand. These two historic milestones are an expression of noble Italian sportiness dating back to 1910, which continues to trigger strong emotions and great pride among Alfa Romeo fans.

The two new logos will accompany the clubs' and the brand's events, as well as the various communication activities and novelties that will follow throughout 2023. Created by Alfa Romeo's Centro Stile, the two new logos reinterpret the design from a modern perspective, projecting them into the future of the brand, which aims to reinvent sportiness in the 21st century. In particular, the centenary of Quadrifoglio has the sturdiness and elegance of the historic logo while evolving only its color point. A contemporary chromatic touch recalls the glorious past of legendary Alfa Romeo cars.

The Autodelta logo is a stylistic feature, maintained and preserved in its original look and colors. This symbol of sportiness remains beloved in the memory of generations of motorsport lovers. The new celebratory version features minimal changes, but leans toward the contemporary and aligns with Alfa Romeo's current identity. This design is evident in the new Sequel font, the same font employed by Alfa Romeo, the ever-present tricolor, as a proud expression of its origins, and the addition of the anniversary date that highlights the longevity of the Autodelta brand.

For Autodelta's 60th anniversary, Alfa Romeo will hold a conference at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese, Milan, on March 5, the day the racing department was founded.

On June 25, as part of the brand's birthday celebrations, Quadrifoglio Day will take place followed by a "backstage" conference, which will feature a parade and flash mob open to all of Alfa Romeo clubs.

Quadrifoglio: a symbol of made in Italian sportiness since 1923
The constant pursuit of excellence was first applied to racing and then transferred, entirely, to production cars: this, in a nutshell, is the Alfa Romeo philosophy embedded in the Quadrifoglio. The legendary symbol has identified Alfa Romeo's most high-performance creations, not only those employed on racetracks around the world, but also special production models, since April 15, 1923.

The first Alfa Romeo car adorned with the Quadrifoglio was the RL Corsa of the driver Ugo Sivocci, who won the 14th edition of Targa Florio in 1923; thus, winning the first of the brand's 10 laurels in this prestigious competition. The same symbol of good luck was a standout on Brilli Peri's P2 when he won the first World Car Racing Championship in Monza, 1925, the first of the five world titles won by Alfa Romeo. In the late 1920s, it was, once again, the Quadrifoglio that distinguished Alfa Romeo cars from the cars run by Scuderia Ferrari, which had the "cavallino rampante" as its emblem.

In 1950 and 1951, Giuseppe "Nino" Farina and Juan Manuel Fangio led Alfa Romeo 158 and 159, the iconic Alfetta, to victory in the first two Formula 1 World Championships. Then, in the 1960s, the Quadrifoglio characterized the ready-to-race version of the Giulia, the TI Super, and then joined Autodelta's blue triangle logo for several decades: from the GTA to the 33 to the two world championships of the 33 TT 12 (1975) and the 33 SC 12 (1977).

Alfa Romeo's racing activity continued in the 1980s when, after its return to F1 in 1980, it triumphed again in touring car racing (GTV 6 2.5), followed by the DTM with the 155 V6 Ti in 1993 and the very long series of victories of the 156 Superturismo (1998-2004).

Ordinary Alfa Romeo production cars also featured the Quadrifoglio. They were high-performance models manufactured from the 1960s to the 1980s. Some carried the symbol on the bodywork, with no appearance in the official name, such as the Giulia Sprint GT Veloce or 1750 GT Veloce - while others, from the 1980s onwards, had the Quadrifoglio in their official name, such as the various versions of the 33 Quadrifoglio Verde and 164 Quadrifoglio Verde. Between the 1970s and 1980s, the Quadrifoglio also evolved and was available in two versions: Verde for sportier vehicles and Oro for more refined and luxurious set-ups.

Over time, the initial "Q" itself became part of the Alfa Romeo vocabulary, eventually identifying the most advanced technical solutions: the most famous of all is the Q4 all-wheel drive, but there was also the Q2 self-locking differential, the Q-System automatic transmission and the Q-Tronic.

In 2008, the Quadrifoglio symbol returned on Mito and Giulietta (2010). The latest Alfa Romeo generation was born in 2015 with the launch of Giulia in its Quadrifoglio version, powered by the new 2.9 BiTurbo gasoline engine with 510 horsepower and an outstanding performance. The car in Giulia form quickly set a category record of 7:32 on the famous Nurburgring circuit. Stelvio, the first SUV produced by Alfa Romeo, is also at the top of the range in its Quadrifoglio version.

Autodelta: Alfa Romeo's legendary racing department
On March 5, 1963, Carlo Chiti and the Chizzola brothers founded a small company based in Feletto Umberto near Udine with the aim of collaborating with Alfa Romeo in the construction of the Giulia TZ, a compact gran turismo designed by Zagato, built on the Giulia's engine and mechanics and equipped with an exclusive tubular chassis, hence the acronym Tubolare Zagato. This marked the beginning of one of the most beautiful chapters in international motorsport. The company soon became Alfa Romeo's racing department. In 1965, it was bought by Biscione with the aim of running the official comeback to competitions, after its withdrawal from the F1 World Championship in 1951, when it won its second title with Alfetta.

For this reason, the car manufacturing company decided to create an ad hoc racing organization, physically detached from the production facility and with sufficient discretion in making technical and sporting decisions quickly. The general manager of the new industrial and sports reality was the charismatic engineer Carlo Chiti, who relocated Autodelta in some anonymous warehouses in Settimo Milanese not far from Arese. This is where some of the most famous Alfa Romeo racing cars would come from, including the legendary 1965 Giulia Sprint GTA, which won three consecutive Challenge Europeo Marche, dozens of national championships and hundreds of individual races all over the world. Fun fact: Giulia Sprint GTA was the first touring car to race at the Nurburgring's Nordschleife under 10 minutes.

In 1967, Alfa Romeo decided to take the big step into the prototype category, the major international stage of motor racing at the time, with the 33/2-liter model winning its first trophy when it debuted in Fléron, Belgium. The following year, Autodelta's prototype cars won the category victory at the 24 hours of Daytona, the 1000 km of Nurburgring, the 500 km of Imola and the 24 hours of Le Mans. The 33 TT 12 of 1975 (probably the most successful year for Autodelta) was also remarkable. The model helped Autodelta win the World Championship of Marche, repeating the victory two years later with the 33 SC 12. Later, Autodelta took over the management of all Alfa Romeo sports programs, from the Alfasud trophy to Formula 1. In 1984, Carlo Chiti left the company, and the following year Autodelta was dismissed. Autodelta was a formidable training ground for many Italian drivers, including Andrea De Adamich, Arturo Merzario, Andrea De Cesaris, Bruno Giacomelli, Giorgio Francia and just as many foreign champions: from Jochen Rindt to Jacky Ickx, from Jean Pierre Jarier to Mario Andretti.

Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Unveils the C43: Aggressive On and Below the Skin

February 7, 2023, Auburn Hills, Mich. - Lean, mean and absolutely gorgeous, Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake unveiled its 2023 challenger, the C43, at a launch event held jointly in Zurich and at the team headquarters in Hinwil, Switzerland. The world of Formula One has an early contender for the title of most beautiful car on the grid already. The C43, in a striking livery of red and black, will guide Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu in the 2023 World Championship as the team seeks to continue on its path of constant improvement.

In the reveal video, the C43 emerged from raw materials and atomized parts, the resulting assembly symbolizing how the team is a union of individuals, each playing an important part in ensuring Alfa Romeo F1 Team’s success. The livery was designed by Alfa Romeo’s Centro Stile.

Designed by the technical team, led by Jan Monchaux, and powered by a new Ferrari power unit, the C43 is an evolution of last year’s successful challenger, the C42; however, due to significant changes to the regulations from FIA, the C43 incorporates several updates and complete new parts with its overall development path still promising a steep improvement curve.

The car is now ready to hit the track in a shakedown session, scheduled this week in Barcelona, and for winter testing in Bahrain at the end of the month.

The Hidden Backbone: the Unmissable 'Beyond the Visible' Event Is Back

January 25, 2023, Auburn Hills, Mich. - After the success of the first two episodes “Before We Hit the Ground” and “Trust Is Gained,” the long-awaited appointment with "Beyond the Visible," the Alfa Romeo docuseries that goes behind the scenes and beyond with the Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN is here. The third of five digital episodes revealing the adrenaline-pumping and challenging daily routine of the team involved in the world's most watched motorsport competition is now available.

The third episode, "The Hidden Backbone," takes the audience on a discovery of the complex and maniacal organization of the logistics operations behind a season of Formula 1. Complex numbers, units of measurement and metrics are used to organize the transfer of people and materials from one part of the world to another. The hospitality, paddock and garage that house the team's sporting exploits are rebuilt from the ground up at every single race, only to be dismantled a few hours later. Leading the entire process, with great skill and precision, is a highly specialized team that relentlessly faces long intercontinental transfers, with gruelling shifts to bring to life and immediately dismantle the physical structure where the world's most watched motorsport competition takes place.

In this third episode, the general public will have the opportunity to learn about the background of those fundamental activities that, out of the spotlight, bring the excitement of Formula 1 to the stage. Starting with numbers: out of a budget of 140 million euros, 15% is allocated to logistics operations, material handling and transportation. Concerning the last season, about 230 tons were moved by sea, 40 tons by air, and the remainder was loaded onto trucks and transferred by land. In addition, about 100 team members, including drivers, mechanics, athletic trainers, doctors, dedicated catering staff, and marketing and communications department personnel, travel on each Grand Prix. Operations are strategically planned well in advance by December of the previous year, and 90% of the entire logistics of the upcoming season are finalized.

Alfa Romeo Announces Pricing and Pre-ordering for All-new 2024 Tonale

January 18, 2023, Auburn Hills, Mich. - Alfa Romeo today announced pricing for the all-new 2024 Tonale with a starting U.S. manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $42,995 (excluding $1,595 destination charge).

The premium automotive brand also opened pre-ordering. Customers can now build and price their Alfa Romeo Tonale through and align with their preferred dealer to finalize the purchase.

Alfa Romeo Tops Premium Segment in J.D. Power U.S. Sales Satisfaction Index Study

November 9, 2022, Auburn Hills, Mich.Alfa Romeo led the way for luxury marques and all Stellantis brands as the top premium brand in the J.D. Power 2022 U.S. Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) Study™.

Alfa Romeo’s success was complemented by the performances of other Stellantis brands, as Dodge surged 20 points and two places compared with last year, to finish second among mass-market brands. Chrysler also improved – with the latter’s 28-point swell marking the largest increase in the mass-market segment.

Jeep® and Ram ranked sixth and seventh, respectively, among mass-market brands, denoting the first time in the study’s history that all eligible Stellantis brands achieved scores that ranked above their segment averages.

The J.D. Power 2022 U.S. SSI Study measures satisfaction with the sales experience among new-vehicle buyers and those who visit one dealer, only to purchase a vehicle elsewhere. Buyer satisfaction is based on six factors: delivery process, dealer personnel, working out the deal, paperwork completion, dealership facility and dealership website. Rejecter satisfaction is based on five factors: salesperson, price, facility, variety of inventory and negotiation.

The long-awaited second episode of “Beyond the Visible,” the Alfa Romeo docuseries that takes the public behind the scenes, and beyond, of Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN, is on air. Five digital appointments reveal the adrenaline-fueled and challenging daily routine of the more than 500 team members involved in the world's most watched motorsport competition.

"Trust Is Gained," the series’ second episode, spotlights the intensity and concentration with which the two drivers, Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, prepare mentally and physically for the season. A preparation that includes intense training sessions, psychological training, and grueling athletic tests and special technical tests that simulate on-track activities. Indeed, in the weeks leading up to a race, motivation, passion and concentration become the key to pursuing a single goal: achieving performance excellence.

Several professionals work alongside the drivers every day, from the sports performance coach to the physiotherapist, from the psychologist to the mental coach. Pilots’ mental strength is crucial to facing 23 races without losing clarity and concentration. Also important is athletic preparation, in which pilots divide their time between long gym sessions and specific sessions in the simulator. Strength and endurance become essential, but without ever burdening the athlete; in Formula 1, an ounce makes the difference. The training is specific and functional to the man-machine relationship; the smallest details become vital, such as working intensely on the neck muscles.

There are also multiple factors affecting pilots’ performance to take into account: the long trips to circuits around the world, jet lag and the stress of race days. The interpersonal relationships created within the team also become the "energy" that drives continuous improvement and keeps motivation at its highest.

Alfa Romeo Creates Historical Vehicle Certification Program to Protect and Promote the Brand’s History and Enthusiasts

October 19, 2022 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The 39th edition of "Auto e Moto d'Epoca" and the 1000 Miglia Warm Up USA 2022 created a perfect opportunity for Alfa Romeo to announce the “Alfa Romeo Classiche” heritage program, a range of services that will protect and promote the history of the iconic Italian automotive brand. For the first time in Stellantis’ history, Alfa Romeo’s top management is personally involved in activities that make up a whole range of dedicated services. The certification committee is chaired by Alfa Romeo’s CEO and the Head of the Heritage Department, with the support of the Alfa Romeo Museum, the location of the production registers and all the technical documentation used by the committee to analyze the information on examined cars.

The Alfa Romeo Classiche heritage program consists of the Certificate of Origin – which has been offered for Alfa Romeo cars since 2016 – together with the Certificate of Authenticity and the Restoration. The top management of the brand personally chairs and intervenes in the committee that evaluates historic cars and issues the certifications with the support of the Heritage team and experts in Alfa Romeo history.

Certificate of Origin: Alfa Romeo will discover the history of each car through its chassis number. The service provides an accurate document review of the Brand's production registers and then certifies the car's year of production and original configuration: model specifications, engine serial number, original exterior and interior details.

Certificate of Authenticity: Alfa Romeo will review the detail and refinements of an individual car and verify its production data and technical specifications in the company archives. Specialists the Heritage department will then certify the authenticity of the car, highlighting its value. To obtain this certification each car goes through a rigorous inspection and evaluation process which is carried out by the specialized team, verifying the authenticity of the car and its components and the functioning of the main mechanical parts. The vehicle can be examined at the Officine Classiche in Mirafiori, at the customer's home (globally) or at the Stellantis & You sales and service dealership in Rome and Palermo.

Restoration service: Furthermore, the same team that takes care of Stellantis' historical collection is available to private clients, with services ranging from simple maintenance to complete restoration: from diagnosis to exterior restoration, repair of individual mechanical and aesthetic components and final testing.

Before We Hit the Ground," the series’ opening episode, reveals the tough process of approaching the races. The weeks leading up to the start of the new season are indeed a crucial phase, experienced with total intensity and concentration. These are days of strong emotions, adrenaline-pumping anticipation, mental and physical preparation. But none of this transpires externally. That is why Alfa Romeo offers “beyond the visible,” reporting everything that precedes the highly anticipated inaugural race of the world championship. During the weeks leading up to the event, motivation, passion and focus become the key to pursuing one common goal: speed.

Protagonists of the first episode are the managers of a team who work hard to define strategies and goals aimed at getting the most out of the group, continuing motivation at the highest level.

Alfa Romeo Tonale Stars at 40th Edition of 1000 Miglia

June 17, 2022, Auburn Hills, Mich. - The 40th edition of the re-enactment of the 1000 Miglia, the “the world’s most beautiful race” according to Enzo Ferrari, is underway and will start from Brescia on June 15 and return on June 18 after making stops at some of Italy’s most charming locations. Half race and half adventure, this year the 1000 Miglia will include more than 400 priceless vintage cars, 118 of which belong to the brands Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Lancia — a team of undisputed leaders in Italian motorsports.

As usual, Alfa Romeo is the star of the event with 50 of its vehicles at the starting line, the most of any other brand. These include three models from the brand’s private collection, which are normally on display at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese: the 6C 1500 Super Sport from 1928, the 1900 Sport Spider from 1954 and the 1900 Super Sprint from 1956.

These three jewels of the historical collection are being led by exceptional teams. Driving 2019’s winning vehicle, the 6C 1500 Super Sport, there is the multi-titled couple (in sport, life and in their careers as pediatricians) of Giovanni Moceri and Valeria Dicembre. Meanwhile, on board the 1900 Super Sprint, there are two representatives of Alfa Romeo manufacturing: Francesco Pirozzi, a member of the body shop at the Giambattista Vico plant in Pomigliano, and Cristina Posta, an employee of the assembly department at the Cassino plant. Finally, Alessandro Alunni Bravi, the managing director of Sauber Motorsport, and Vicki Piria, the driver and sports commentator, make up the team competing on board the 1900 Sport Spider.

These three extraordinary, moving works of art belong to the private Heritage collection, the Stellantis department dedicated to the protection and promotion of the historical heritage of Alfa Romeo. The spirit with which Alfa Romeo faces the 40th edition of the 1000 Miglia is that which has distinguished the brand from its origins. A brand that has, in performance and competition, a fundamental trait of its DNA of noble sportsmanship since 1910.

Throughout its history, Alfa Romeo has always been able to maintain its stature and express its glorious past and inimitable DNA in each of its new models. For this reason, every Alfa Romeo inspires admiration; and this not only holds true for its classic cars, but also for its current ones as well, which will join the 1000 Miglia convoy on its journey through Italy’s most evocative landscapes and towns. The Tonale will also embark upon those roads and enjoy the warmth and affection with which the fans at the 1000 Miglia greet the convoy each year.

Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Super Sport from 1928
All eyes will be glued to the Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Super Sport, whose body was built at the Stabilimenti Farina, as this incredible vehicle from the Alfa Romeo Historical Museum looks to repeat the success it had in the 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2019 editions of this race. It was also victorious in 2007 and 2008 in the 1000 Millas Sport in Argentina. This spectacular vehicle from 1928 is equipped with a 1,487cc six-cylinder engine that supplies a maximum output of 76CV at 4,800 rpm and reaches a maximum speed of 140 km/h. Only 31 of these models were made between 1928 and 1929.

1900 Super Sprint from 1956
This elegant coupé with bodywork by Touring is the "gran turismo" model of the 1900, whose claim "the family car which wins races" made it famous in the 1950s. With sporty performance, which is still impressive today, the Alfa Romeo 1900 Super Sprint is based on a short version of the 1900 sedan body and has a two-liter, four-cylinder engine with the brand’s trademark double camshaft and 115 hp of power at 5,500 rpm. In the 1950s, it was common for the best Italian designers to acquire the rolling chassis from Alfa Romeo and complete it with a body that was designed and produced in-house. The model with the greatest success came from the Milanese company Touring, whose version of the Alfa Romeo 1900C Super Sprint is still considered as one of the most balanced and refined coupés ever produced for the Biscione. Between 1954 and 1955, 300 models were produced.

1900 Sport Spider from 1954
An extremely rare racing Spider - with only two models being made - this model is equipped with a four-cylinder “1900” double camshaft and able to reach 220 km/h thanks to its weight of 880 kilograms and particularly efficient aerodynamics. Standing out for its innovative design by Franco Scaglione for Carrozzeria Bertone, the 1900 Sport Spider is equipped with a 5-speed transmission and a De Dion rear axle. Its performance and driving are as good as a modern vehicle, with superior and reactive handling and elevated road holding. This extraordinary vehicle will be driven by Alessandro Alunni Bravo, the managing director of Sauber Sport (Alfa Romeo’s partner in the “circus” of Formula 1), together with the young driver and sports commentator Vicki Piria, who, though not yet in her 30s, already has an impressive professional career in the racing world.

Alfa Romeo Celebrates its 111th Anniversary

Today marks the 111th anniversary of the Alfa Romeo brand as it was founded on this day in 1910 in Milan, Italy. The Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili (A.L.F.A.) which later would become Alfa Romeo, following its acquisition of engineer and entrepreneur Nicola Romeo, in 1918. Since then, Alfa Romeo has played a major role in automotive history having designed, engineered and created some of the most iconic and beautiful vehicles and race cars the world has ever seen with a level of passion and performance that is second to none.

When Alfa Romeo was first established, its cars were red. Since then, the color red has become an integral part of the brand’s DNA. Today, on the brand’s 111th anniversary, the Arese Museum in Italy will be tinged with red to honor the journey and heritage of Alfa Romeo. In addition to the 111th anniversary, June 24, 2021 marks the first customer deliveries of the new high-performance Giulia GTA and GTAm at the Arese Museum. Early buyers get an exclusive experience at the museum dedicated to them as they settle in and take delivery of their GTA and GTAm, of which only 500 are being produced.
