Dodge, Ram, Alfa Romeo Rank 1-2-3 in J.D. Power IQS

Every Stellantis brand improved its IQS score vs. 2022, bucking industry trend;
each brand also finished higher than it did last year

June 22, 2023, Auburn Hills, Mich. - Stellantis brands Dodge, Ram and Alfa Romeo own the industry podium in the J.D. Power 2023 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS).

Dodge tops the 33 brands ranked  by J.D. Power, followed by Ram and then Alfa Romeo.  These latest results mark the fourth consecutive year that Dodge has placed among the top two brands.

Meanwhile, Ram climbed 16 places to finish second – its third time among the study’s top three brands since 2020. And Alfa Romeo soared 24 places – the greatest jump in this year’s IQS – to finish first among premium brands and third in the industry.

“We are clearly finding our rhythm,” says Mark Stewart, COO for Stellantis in North America. “While that bodes well for our team, more importantly, it’s a signal to our customers that we are aligned with their concerns and responding in real time.”

“Expect the team to focus even more intently on delivering excellence in customer experience,” Stewart adds. “Not just because it’s a hallmark of our Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, but because it’s the right thing to do.”

J.D. Power surveyed new-vehicle buyers about their first three months of ownership, and tracked problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) to measure the brand performance. Totals recorded by Dodge, Ram and Alfa Romeo were lower than last year’s numbers by three, 45 and 68 PP100, respectively.

Alfa’s improvement was eclipsed only by Stellantis stablemate Maserati, with 73 fewer PP100 than it recorded in the 2022 study. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio also claimed top honors in the study’s compact premium SUV segment.

Maserati surged 17 places to 14th in the industry, compared with last year. Its total PP100 was nearly 34 percent below the industry average.

Ram’s 45-PP100  improvement was tops among mass-market brands, helped by the flagship Ram 1500’s finish atop the large light-duty pickup segment.

Jeep® also performed better than the industry average, ascending to 19th place from 23rd in the 2022 IQS. The brand was helped by the Jeep Gladiator’s rise to the top of the midsize pickup segment.

The Chrysler brand’s PP100  total was nearly six percent better than last year.

Fifth and Final Episode of Alfa Romeo Series ‘Beyond the Visible’ Now Online

April 27, 2023 , Turin, Italy - “Monza – The Temple of Speed” is now available on Alfa Romeo’s official YouTube channel. The fifth and final exciting episode of the digital series takes viewers “behind the scenes and beyond” with the Alfa Romeo F1 Team as they compete in the most popular motor racing contest in the world. The compelling Alfa Romeo series has thrilled motorsports fans from around the globe. It has now reached its compelling conclusion, cumulating over five exciting episodes:

Cristiano Fiorio, Alfa Romeo F1 Manager: “'Beyond the visible' was an exciting adventure. The episode on Monza, our spiritual home, ended a very successful project. I'd like to thank the entire team who were all very professional while working on it. We’re delighted that we’ve managed to bring the F1 pits to people other than the experts in the field. What's next? The only thing I can say is: stay tuned!”

The fifth episode serves as a tribute to the most iconic of the international Formula 1 circuits, the Monza circuit. Monza is the home of Alfa Romeo’s decorated racing legacy. With more than 100 years since its inauguration, it is now known as the Temple of Speed and the setting of indelible chapters written in the history of motorsports. On this track on September 3, 1950, Alfa Romeo won the first Formula 1 title in history with the Alfetta 158 driven by Nino Farina. The rest is history: Tazio Nuvolari, Juan Manuel Fangio and many other heroic drivers contributed to Alfa Romeo’s exciting sporting tradition during a century of motorsports excellence.

Since 1922, Monza has separated itself from all the other circuits. Extremely fast and technical, it puts drivers’ skills to the test. However, Monza not only challenges drivers’ skills, the entire team of engineers and mechanics are also called on to overhaul the car’s configuration and setup for this track.

Using complex data analysis and development, the aim is to put the driver in the best position for success on a track where the action never stops, and where the speed goes to the limit.

The connection between the performances on the tarmac and the emotions of the fans packed into the stands is at the heart of the Monza Grand Prix: an unmissable, unique event. Monza is the living museum of Italian motorsport, where Alfa Romeo has written the greatest chapters in its history of noble Italian sportsmanship.

The origins of a legend
A symbol of Italian noble sportiness, the legendary Quadrifoglio has always been synonymous with the brand’s highest-performing creations. This not only holds true for its racing models, but for its most powerful and exclusive road vehicles as well. Reinterpreted for modern day, Centro Stile Alfa Romeo has projected the historical Quadrifoglio logo into the brand’s future while preserving its solidity and elegance.

The Quadrifoglio has been part of Alfa Romeo’s racing and industrial history since the very beginning. It began in 1923 with one of the oldest automobile races in the world, the Targa Florio, the prestigious event that at the beginning of the 20th century transformed Sicily once a year into a famous European “salon.” Intense and incredibly challenging, the race was one of the most important milestones of its time for drivers and could thrust car models and brands into the market. Ugo Sivocci, an accomplished driver in his time, brought home the win with luck on his side, which would make the choice of the Quadrifoglio (a four-leaf clover) more meaningful. With this victory, Alfa Romeo was catapulted onto the Mount Olympus of car manufacturers, inexorably linking the symbol of the Quadrifoglio to the brand’s legendary vehicles and setting the stage for an extensive series of achievements by unforgettable drivers. From the first Grand Prix championship in 1925, and moving on to the Mille Miglia, the Targa Florio and 24-hour Le Mans, the brand dominated the international racing scene. However, the lucky symbol soon began to stand out on exclusive road vehicles as well. The glazed Quadrifoglio badge would make its first appearance on a road vehicle with the Giulia Sprint GT Veloce and launch a tradition that continues today. These are the brand’s most powerful versions and are designed for car enthusiasts who have a passion for driving.

Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Launches 'Beyond the Visible' Fourth Episode 'Measuring the Unmeasurable'

March 22, 2023, Turin, Italy - The wait is over. As of today, the fourth of five digital episodes in the Alfa Romeo F1 team Stake docuseries, ‘“Beyond the Visible,” is now available. The show goes behind the scenes and beyond with Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake as they compete in the world's most watched motorsports competition. Titled "Measuring the Unmeasurable," it’s the latest installment of the compelling Alfa Romeo-branded docuseries, which has enjoyed great success in its first three episodes: “Before We Hit the Ground,” “Trust Is Gained” and “The Hidden Backbone.”

The fourth episode focuses on the secrets of aerodynamics, the science that studies the dynamics of airflow to control resistance, friction and motion. Proper aerodynamics influence the behavior of the single-seater during the race, improving its efficiency and performance. This is a fundamental and complex task entrusted to the designers and engineers of the Alfa Romeo F1 team Stake. The team worked closely with engine and chassis designers to design a single-seater that aligns with new regulations and simultaneously ensures excellent on-track performance.

Understanding how airflow interacts with the car allows the team to be competitive in every race and make adjustments based on the weather, the asphalt and the track. Throughout the competition, a team of engineers works tirelessly on the development and refinement of aerodynamics. This happens both in Hinwil, where individual components are continually developed and tested in the wind tunnel, and on the circuits that host the World Championship Grand Prix in order to achieve the most efficient setup for every race.

The ideal car for winning is a result of this synergistic effort, which "measures the unmeasurable." The secret of success lies in bringing solutions from the Sauber Factory in Hinwil as quickly as possible to the track, reinforcing the development work .

Created to excite everyone, the new episode dynamically introduces the most relevant phenomena of this discipline: drag (resistance to forward motion) and downforce (using aero design to create downward force and more traction). The functioning of individual aerodynamic components is highlighted from the front wings, which manage the airflow both around the tires and the incoming airflow for the rest of the car, to the rear wing, which defines the overall aerodynamic load. The most difficult job for engineers is to find the optimal setup. This is a compromise between the aerodynamic load generated by the wings and the body of the car in corners and the low drag that allows it to slice through the air at high speeds.

In addition, through race images and radio broadcasts, the audience of "Measuring the Unmeasurable" will get to know the importance of feedback communicated by the drivers to engineers. This information helps create the best strategies for tire changes based on weather conditions, temperatures, wind speed and other factors. Nothing is left to chance, everything is analyzed with extreme care to optimize performance. After all, since the early 1960s, aerodynamic studies have been fundamental in the world of motor racing, constantly being refined as technology evolves and race cars become more powerful.

Cristiano Fiorio, Alfa Romeo F1 manager: "In my opinion, the topic of this episode is one of the most interesting themes of this exciting docuseries and reveals the secrets of aerodynamics, one of the most important and strategic disciplines in F1, in which the genius and vision of the best technicians are expressed. Indeed, rules have often some "gray" areas, which leave room for the most diverse interpretations. And it is precisely here that unique insights are born, those flashes of genius that can make the difference. It is a fascinating world of spasmodic research, continuous perfection and great people. That's why we have two teams, one at the track and one at the factory, that work together to get the most competitive car. All at top speed and with one goal: to dominate the air and be the best performing team."

F1 Driver Valtteri Bottas Purchases Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA

March 13, 2023, Turin, Italy - Today, the Alfa Romeo team welcomed F1 driver Valtteri Bottas to the Stellantis &You showroom in Turin, where Bottas collected his new Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA in distinctive red. The limited-edition car is the most powerful Alfa Romeo ever built and only 500 units are available.

Alfa Romeo’s top representatives were present to celebrate the delivery of the car to the Finnish driver: Jean-Philippe Imparato, CEO of Alfa Romeo, Cristiano Fiorio, F1 manager, Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, head of Alfa Romeo design, and Eligio Catarinella, head of marketing and communication.

During the meeting, Bottas and Alfa Romeo’s management had the opportunity to discuss upcoming projects in which the driver is personally involved.

Cristiano Fiorio, Alfa Romeo F1 Manager: “This is a special moment for Alfa Romeo. Valtteri Bottas is an exceptional professional. A long career in F1 studded with 10 grand prix wins is evidence. His desire to join the inner and exclusive circle of Giulia GTA customers fills us with pride. In a world of business often driven by contractual obligations, today we are celebrating something different: Valtteri has shown us that sometimes passion drives our choices. Welcome Valtteri to the heart of Alfa Romeo.”

Valtteri Bottas, Alfa Romeo F1 Driver: “I'm clearly a lifelong car enthusiast. But most of all I love the Alfa Romeo brand. It is an honor for me to be an ambassador of the brand and now to become a customer, an owner of one of the 500 Giulia GTAs. It's a technically excellent vehicle, realized in collaboration with Sauber Engineering by leveraging the expertise and technical know-how that comes directly from Formula 1. For car and motorsport enthusiasts it represents so much more. It revives one of the legends of motorsports, the 1965 Giulia GTA, and perfectly embodies the brand's DNA, passion for motorsport, driving pleasure, and a unique and distinctive styling appeal.”

Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA
The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA has revived one of motoring's legends and a milestone in the brand's history: the 1965 Giulia GTA. The ultimate expression of Alfa Romeo's unique ability to combine style and performance, this model represents an authentic return to Alfa Romeo's roots, founded in the world of performance and grand touring.

The Giulia GTA is a high-performance vehicle based on the outstanding Giulia Quadrifoglio. Thanks to the extensive adoption of ultralight materials, the Giulia GTA benefits from a weight reduction of up to 100 kg (220 lbs.) compared to the Giulia Quadrifoglio and is equipped with an upgraded version of Alfa Romeo's 2.9 V-6 Bi-Turbo at 540 hp.

Alfa Romeo engineers improved aerodynamics and handling, but above all reduced weight, under the same guidelines followed for the 1965 Giulia GTA. To achieve these goals, extensive use of carbon-fiber components and composite materials played a role. Aerodynamics were specially designed to increase downforce. The technical know-how came directly from Formula 1 thanks to the synergy with Sauber Engineering.

Alfa Romeo engineers were able to benefit from the expertise and facilities of Sauber Engineering. The Swiss company, with more than 50 years of experience in motorsports, 27 years in F1, has gained in-depth know-how on aerodynamics thanks also to a proprietary wind tunnel that is among the most advanced in Europe. The Sauber team actively participated in the design, prototyping and manufacturing of aerodynamic components for the new Giulia GTA.

GTA and Autodelta, a pairing packed with history and sporting successes
The initials GTA represent “Gran Turismo Alleggerita” (“Gran Turismo Lite”), invented in 1965 for the Giulia Sprint GTA, a specific version derived from the Sprint GT. The vehicle was created for racing and was unveiled at the Amsterdam Motor Show that year. Success in competitions came very soon after: three consecutive “Challenge Europeo Marche,” dozens of national championships and hundreds of single races all over the world. Since then, the GTA has become a historic marker, as an undisputed icon of Biscione sportsmanship, the power of its initials persuades the public to identify Alfa Romeo sports cars in general simply as “GTA.”

Alfa Romeo Begins Celebrating 100th Anniversary of Quadrifoglio by Revealing New Logo

February 9, 2023 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Alfa Romeo has announced the official start of celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the legendary Quadrifoglio brand and the 60th anniversary of Autodelta with new logos that will serve as symbols of performance excellence for the premium Italian brand. These two historic milestones are an expression of noble Italian sportiness dating back to 1910, which continues to trigger strong emotions and great pride among Alfa Romeo fans.

The two new logos will accompany the clubs' and the brand's events, as well as the various communication activities and novelties that will follow throughout 2023. Created by Alfa Romeo's Centro Stile, the two new logos reinterpret the design from a modern perspective, projecting them into the future of the brand, which aims to reinvent sportiness in the 21st century. In particular, the centenary of Quadrifoglio has the sturdiness and elegance of the historic logo while evolving only its color point. A contemporary chromatic touch recalls the glorious past of legendary Alfa Romeo cars.

The Autodelta logo is a stylistic feature, maintained and preserved in its original look and colors. This symbol of sportiness remains beloved in the memory of generations of motorsport lovers. The new celebratory version features minimal changes, but leans toward the contemporary and aligns with Alfa Romeo's current identity. This design is evident in the new Sequel font, the same font employed by Alfa Romeo, the ever-present tricolor, as a proud expression of its origins, and the addition of the anniversary date that highlights the longevity of the Autodelta brand.

For Autodelta's 60th anniversary, Alfa Romeo will hold a conference at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese, Milan, on March 5, the day the racing department was founded.

On June 25, as part of the brand's birthday celebrations, Quadrifoglio Day will take place followed by a "backstage" conference, which will feature a parade and flash mob open to all of Alfa Romeo clubs.

Quadrifoglio: a symbol of made in Italian sportiness since 1923
The constant pursuit of excellence was first applied to racing and then transferred, entirely, to production cars: this, in a nutshell, is the Alfa Romeo philosophy embedded in the Quadrifoglio. The legendary symbol has identified Alfa Romeo's most high-performance creations, not only those employed on racetracks around the world, but also special production models, since April 15, 1923.

The first Alfa Romeo car adorned with the Quadrifoglio was the RL Corsa of the driver Ugo Sivocci, who won the 14th edition of Targa Florio in 1923; thus, winning the first of the brand's 10 laurels in this prestigious competition. The same symbol of good luck was a standout on Brilli Peri's P2 when he won the first World Car Racing Championship in Monza, 1925, the first of the five world titles won by Alfa Romeo. In the late 1920s, it was, once again, the Quadrifoglio that distinguished Alfa Romeo cars from the cars run by Scuderia Ferrari, which had the "cavallino rampante" as its emblem.

In 1950 and 1951, Giuseppe "Nino" Farina and Juan Manuel Fangio led Alfa Romeo 158 and 159, the iconic Alfetta, to victory in the first two Formula 1 World Championships. Then, in the 1960s, the Quadrifoglio characterized the ready-to-race version of the Giulia, the TI Super, and then joined Autodelta's blue triangle logo for several decades: from the GTA to the 33 to the two world championships of the 33 TT 12 (1975) and the 33 SC 12 (1977).

Alfa Romeo's racing activity continued in the 1980s when, after its return to F1 in 1980, it triumphed again in touring car racing (GTV 6 2.5), followed by the DTM with the 155 V6 Ti in 1993 and the very long series of victories of the 156 Superturismo (1998-2004).

Ordinary Alfa Romeo production cars also featured the Quadrifoglio. They were high-performance models manufactured from the 1960s to the 1980s. Some carried the symbol on the bodywork, with no appearance in the official name, such as the Giulia Sprint GT Veloce or 1750 GT Veloce - while others, from the 1980s onwards, had the Quadrifoglio in their official name, such as the various versions of the 33 Quadrifoglio Verde and 164 Quadrifoglio Verde. Between the 1970s and 1980s, the Quadrifoglio also evolved and was available in two versions: Verde for sportier vehicles and Oro for more refined and luxurious set-ups.

Over time, the initial "Q" itself became part of the Alfa Romeo vocabulary, eventually identifying the most advanced technical solutions: the most famous of all is the Q4 all-wheel drive, but there was also the Q2 self-locking differential, the Q-System automatic transmission and the Q-Tronic.

In 2008, the Quadrifoglio symbol returned on Mito and Giulietta (2010). The latest Alfa Romeo generation was born in 2015 with the launch of Giulia in its Quadrifoglio version, powered by the new 2.9 BiTurbo gasoline engine with 510 horsepower and an outstanding performance. The car in Giulia form quickly set a category record of 7:32 on the famous Nurburgring circuit. Stelvio, the first SUV produced by Alfa Romeo, is also at the top of the range in its Quadrifoglio version.

Autodelta: Alfa Romeo's legendary racing department
On March 5, 1963, Carlo Chiti and the Chizzola brothers founded a small company based in Feletto Umberto near Udine with the aim of collaborating with Alfa Romeo in the construction of the Giulia TZ, a compact gran turismo designed by Zagato, built on the Giulia's engine and mechanics and equipped with an exclusive tubular chassis, hence the acronym Tubolare Zagato. This marked the beginning of one of the most beautiful chapters in international motorsport. The company soon became Alfa Romeo's racing department. In 1965, it was bought by Biscione with the aim of running the official comeback to competitions, after its withdrawal from the F1 World Championship in 1951, when it won its second title with Alfetta.

For this reason, the car manufacturing company decided to create an ad hoc racing organization, physically detached from the production facility and with sufficient discretion in making technical and sporting decisions quickly. The general manager of the new industrial and sports reality was the charismatic engineer Carlo Chiti, who relocated Autodelta in some anonymous warehouses in Settimo Milanese not far from Arese. This is where some of the most famous Alfa Romeo racing cars would come from, including the legendary 1965 Giulia Sprint GTA, which won three consecutive Challenge Europeo Marche, dozens of national championships and hundreds of individual races all over the world. Fun fact: Giulia Sprint GTA was the first touring car to race at the Nurburgring's Nordschleife under 10 minutes.

In 1967, Alfa Romeo decided to take the big step into the prototype category, the major international stage of motor racing at the time, with the 33/2-liter model winning its first trophy when it debuted in Fléron, Belgium. The following year, Autodelta's prototype cars won the category victory at the 24 hours of Daytona, the 1000 km of Nurburgring, the 500 km of Imola and the 24 hours of Le Mans. The 33 TT 12 of 1975 (probably the most successful year for Autodelta) was also remarkable. The model helped Autodelta win the World Championship of Marche, repeating the victory two years later with the 33 SC 12. Later, Autodelta took over the management of all Alfa Romeo sports programs, from the Alfasud trophy to Formula 1. In 1984, Carlo Chiti left the company, and the following year Autodelta was dismissed. Autodelta was a formidable training ground for many Italian drivers, including Andrea De Adamich, Arturo Merzario, Andrea De Cesaris, Bruno Giacomelli, Giorgio Francia and just as many foreign champions: from Jochen Rindt to Jacky Ickx, from Jean Pierre Jarier to Mario Andretti.

Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Unveils the C43: Aggressive On and Below the Skin

February 7, 2023, Auburn Hills, Mich. - Lean, mean and absolutely gorgeous, Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake unveiled its 2023 challenger, the C43, at a launch event held jointly in Zurich and at the team headquarters in Hinwil, Switzerland. The world of Formula One has an early contender for the title of most beautiful car on the grid already. The C43, in a striking livery of red and black, will guide Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu in the 2023 World Championship as the team seeks to continue on its path of constant improvement.

In the reveal video, the C43 emerged from raw materials and atomized parts, the resulting assembly symbolizing how the team is a union of individuals, each playing an important part in ensuring Alfa Romeo F1 Team’s success. The livery was designed by Alfa Romeo’s Centro Stile.

Designed by the technical team, led by Jan Monchaux, and powered by a new Ferrari power unit, the C43 is an evolution of last year’s successful challenger, the C42; however, due to significant changes to the regulations from FIA, the C43 incorporates several updates and complete new parts with its overall development path still promising a steep improvement curve.

The car is now ready to hit the track in a shakedown session, scheduled this week in Barcelona, and for winter testing in Bahrain at the end of the month.

Alessandro Alunni Bravi, managing director of Sauber Group and team representative: "Bringing a car to life is a long process that touches every department of a racing team; therefore, it’s a moment of great pride to see it unveiled today. We chose to do it in front of our fans, close to our home, because the launch of a new car is not only a moment to state your objectives for the season ahead; it’s also a time to give back to the people who have supported you, be it in the grandstands, in front of the TV or back at the factory, and express our gratitude for their passion and their belief in our project. Our new car is the result of months of work, but today is just the beginning of a journey. We need to keep working hard with humility and dedication to bring performance to the track. Everyone on the team is committed to this target and I am confident we will reap the rewards of our work."

Cristiano Fiorio, Alfa Romeo F1 manager: "The presentation of the car is always an exciting moment. It represents a turning point: after months of massive effort by the team in great confidentiality, the spotlight is suddenly turned on and we are ready to warm up the engines. With this car we will fight - together with our drivers - until the last corner of the last Grand Prix to achieve ambitious goals. Special thanks to the Alfa Romeo’s Centro Stile, which has dressed a car in a suit created from distinctive craftsmanship, placing it among the most beautiful cars on the grid. On the two body sides, the Quadrifoglio and the Alfa Romeo logo stand out even more clearly, symbols of noble Italian sportsmanship since 1910."

Jan Monchaux, technical director of Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake: "I am very proud of what we have achieved over these last months, because creating a new car is always a massive effort from the team. This car is an evolution of last year, reflecting the new regulations and introducing major changes in the areas where we found improvements were needed. I hope it’s going to be quicker than the successful car we had last year, that’s what matters most, and more reliable as well. We have put a lot of effort in this direction. Now, it’s time to get to the track and see how this car performs. I’m happy to get back to racing, and I’m confident there will be much more to come from us soon."

Valtteri Bottas, race driver of Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake: "The C43 is finally here, and I cannot wait to bring it on track. I really like our new livery. I think it’s stunning and a fine evolution from last year. It’s been an interesting first season with the team. We made some pretty solid progress together, and now there’s only one direction to follow: up, higher and better. There is obviously still work to do and things to improve, but I am confident we have it in ourselves to aim for even higher results this year. I cannot wait to go back to racing. I am fully charged and eager to get the new season started."

Zhou Guanyu, race driver of Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake: "I am happy to finally see the C43 being unveiled after all the behind-the-scenes work that has been done in the past months. I think we are sporting a beautiful new design for 2023. I look forward to driving the car in Barcelona in the next days, before properly getting the season started with winter testing in Bahrain. Last year, the team made me feel at home from the very start, welcoming me and giving me time to learn and improve. The expectation for this year is definitely higher, and I will carry all the experience from my rookie season into 2023. I’m excited for what's coming, and I’m fully ready to attack."

Théo Pourchaire, reserve driver of Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake: "First of all, I am thankful and honored to take part in my first Formula One launch as a reserve driver for the team. It is great to see the efforts paying off, and I cannot wait to get started! I have seen the great amount of work that has been put into bringing the car from paper to reality, and I am happy for everyone back at the factory, I think they have done an amazing job. There is, of course, great expectation, and I look forward to seeing the C43 hit the track in just a few days. I feel part of a great family and a great team, and I am determined to do my best and push the limits to achieve the best results possible."

The Hidden Backbone: the Unmissable 'Beyond the Visible' Event Is Back

January 25, 2023, Auburn Hills, Mich. - After the success of the first two episodes “Before We Hit the Ground” and “Trust Is Gained,” the long-awaited appointment with "Beyond the Visible," the Alfa Romeo docuseries that goes behind the scenes and beyond with the Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN is here. The third of five digital episodes revealing the adrenaline-pumping and challenging daily routine of the team involved in the world's most watched motorsport competition is now available.

The third episode, "The Hidden Backbone," takes the audience on a discovery of the complex and maniacal organization of the logistics operations behind a season of Formula 1. Complex numbers, units of measurement and metrics are used to organize the transfer of people and materials from one part of the world to another. The hospitality, paddock and garage that house the team's sporting exploits are rebuilt from the ground up at every single race, only to be dismantled a few hours later. Leading the entire process, with great skill and precision, is a highly specialized team that relentlessly faces long intercontinental transfers, with gruelling shifts to bring to life and immediately dismantle the physical structure where the world's most watched motorsport competition takes place.

In this third episode, the general public will have the opportunity to learn about the background of those fundamental activities that, out of the spotlight, bring the excitement of Formula 1 to the stage. Starting with numbers: out of a budget of 140 million euros, 15% is allocated to logistics operations, material handling and transportation. Concerning the last season, about 230 tons were moved by sea, 40 tons by air, and the remainder was loaded onto trucks and transferred by land. In addition, about 100 team members, including drivers, mechanics, athletic trainers, doctors, dedicated catering staff, and marketing and communications department personnel, travel on each Grand Prix. Operations are strategically planned well in advance by December of the previous year, and 90% of the entire logistics of the upcoming season are finalized.

Cristiano Fiorio, Alfa Romeo F1 manager: "We are very proud of this project. We wanted to talk about topics that are mostly unknown to the public and above all we tried to bring to light all those 'invisible' professionals who are fundamental in the team management. Logistics in F1 is impressive, especially when you consider that it is strictly aimed at having just two cars perform to their full potential on circuits around the world. Logistics is therefore a key aspect and is also a major work in progress for the F1 of tomorrow.”

The primary goal of “Beyond the Visible” is to tell the behind-the-scenes story of a world made of adrenaline and performance. When the traffic lights go out on the straight of Grand Prix races around the world, the big show, the most beloved of motorsport competitions, kicks off. All of this is accomplished thanks to equally high-performing logistics professionals shown in "The Hidden Backbone," on air on Alfa Romeo's official social media and YouTube channels.

Alfa Romeo Tops Premium Segment in J.D. Power U.S. Sales Satisfaction Index Study

November 9, 2022, Auburn Hills, Mich.Alfa Romeo led the way for luxury marques and all Stellantis brands as the top premium brand in the J.D. Power 2022 U.S. Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) Study™.

The iconic brand recorded the greatest climb in the 14-brand premium segment, compared with last year’s study, with a 25-point rise to a score of 833. Alfa Romeo’s eight-place jump from ninth place topped the premium brand category.

"Quality of our products and customer care are top priorities for Alfa Romeo, and we are genuinely proud to see our efforts have placed the premium brand at number one among premium brands in the J.D. Power Sales Satisfaction Index," said Larry Dominique, SVP, head of Alfa Romeo North America. "We are focused on continually improving the overall customer experience of owning an Alfa Romeo, and this is a testament to our intense focus on enhancing the dealership component."

Alfa Romeo’s success was complemented by the performances of other Stellantis brands, as Dodge surged 20 points and two places compared with last year, to finish second among mass-market brands. Chrysler also improved – with the latter’s 28-point swell marking the largest increase in the mass-market segment.

Jeep® and Ram ranked sixth and seventh, respectively, among mass-market brands, denoting the first time in the study’s history that all eligible Stellantis brands achieved scores that ranked above their segment averages.

The J.D. Power 2022 U.S. SSI Study measures satisfaction with the sales experience among new-vehicle buyers and those who visit one dealer, only to purchase a vehicle elsewhere. Buyer satisfaction is based on six factors: delivery process, dealer personnel, working out the deal, paperwork completion, dealership facility and dealership website. Rejecter satisfaction is based on five factors: salesperson, price, facility, variety of inventory and negotiation.

'Trust Is Gained:' Second Awaited Episode of 'Beyond the Visible'

The long-awaited second episode of “Beyond the Visible,” the Alfa Romeo docuseries that takes the public behind the scenes, and beyond, of Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN, is on air. Five digital appointments reveal the adrenaline-fueled and challenging daily routine of the more than 500 team members involved in the world's most watched motorsport competition.

"Trust Is Gained," the series’ second episode, spotlights the intensity and concentration with which the two drivers, Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, prepare mentally and physically for the season. A preparation that includes intense training sessions, psychological training, and grueling athletic tests and special technical tests that simulate on-track activities. Indeed, in the weeks leading up to a race, motivation, passion and concentration become the key to pursuing a single goal: achieving performance excellence.

Several professionals work alongside the drivers every day, from the sports performance coach to the physiotherapist, from the psychologist to the mental coach. Pilots’ mental strength is crucial to facing 23 races without losing clarity and concentration. Also important is athletic preparation, in which pilots divide their time between long gym sessions and specific sessions in the simulator. Strength and endurance become essential, but without ever burdening the athlete; in Formula 1, an ounce makes the difference. The training is specific and functional to the man-machine relationship; the smallest details become vital, such as working intensely on the neck muscles.

There are also multiple factors affecting pilots’ performance to take into account: the long trips to circuits around the world, jet lag and the stress of race days. The interpersonal relationships created within the team also become the "energy" that drives continuous improvement and keeps motivation at its highest.

Therefore, in this second episode, the public will have the opportunity to get to know and to feel part of the adrenaline-fueled world of Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN drivers. "Trust Is Gained" is available on the official Alfa Romeo social media pages and YouTube channel. Stay tuned for the next unmissable episode!

Alfa Romeo Creates Historical Vehicle Certification Program to Protect and Promote the Brand’s History and Enthusiasts

October 19, 2022 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The 39th edition of "Auto e Moto d'Epoca" and the 1000 Miglia Warm Up USA 2022 created a perfect opportunity for Alfa Romeo to announce the “Alfa Romeo Classiche” heritage program, a range of services that will protect and promote the history of the iconic Italian automotive brand. For the first time in Stellantis’ history, Alfa Romeo’s top management is personally involved in activities that make up a whole range of dedicated services. The certification committee is chaired by Alfa Romeo’s CEO and the Head of the Heritage Department, with the support of the Alfa Romeo Museum, the location of the production registers and all the technical documentation used by the committee to analyze the information on examined cars.

Jean Philippe Imparato – Alfa Romeo CEO
"Alfa Romeo is going through a key phase in its history. The historical period we are going through is a genuine evolution. The brand's future includes very ambitious goals aimed at redefining the concept of sportiness in the 21st century, while remaining faithful to its DNA. While planning for the future, our heritage is always our main source of inspiration. For us, the Alfa Romeo Classiche heritage program aims to enhance our historic automotive heritage by certifying the authenticity of vintage Alfa Romeos and giving new life to marvelous examples that still captivate and excite car enthusiasts around the world."

The Alfa Romeo Classiche heritage program consists of the Certificate of Origin – which has been offered for Alfa Romeo cars since 2016 – together with the Certificate of Authenticity and the Restoration. The top management of the brand personally chairs and intervenes in the committee that evaluates historic cars and issues the certifications with the support of the Heritage team and experts in Alfa Romeo history.

Certificate of Origin: Alfa Romeo will discover the history of each car through its chassis number. The service provides an accurate document review of the Brand's production registers and then certifies the car's year of production and original configuration: model specifications, engine serial number, original exterior and interior details.

Certificate of Authenticity: Alfa Romeo will review the detail and refinements of an individual car and verify its production data and technical specifications in the company archives. Specialists the Heritage department will then certify the authenticity of the car, highlighting its value. To obtain this certification each car goes through a rigorous inspection and evaluation process which is carried out by the specialized team, verifying the authenticity of the car and its components and the functioning of the main mechanical parts. The vehicle can be examined at the Officine Classiche in Mirafiori, at the customer's home (globally) or at the Stellantis & You sales and service dealership in Rome and Palermo.

Restoration service: Furthermore, the same team that takes care of Stellantis' historical collection is available to private clients, with services ranging from simple maintenance to complete restoration: from diagnosis to exterior restoration, repair of individual mechanical and aesthetic components and final testing.

A dedicated area to owners of timeless icons on the official Alfa Romeo website
The brand will introduce an area dedicated on its website to the new "Alfa Romeo Classiche" heritage program that allows owners of historic cars to make use of programs dedicated to Certificates of Authenticity and Restoration. It will therefore be possible to receive all the information and support necessary to start a dedicated and personalized program directly from the brand's website.

F1 and Alfa Romeo Fans Get Behind-the-scenes View With New Series 'Beyond the Visible'

September 1, 2022 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Starting September 1, the long-awaited first episode of “Beyond the Visible,” the new docuseries that takes the public behind the scenes and beyond of Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN, will air. For the first time, F1 fans and novices will be able to discover the adrenaline-fueled and challenging daily routine of the more than 500 experts who work tirelessly in order to excel in the world's most watched motorsport competition.

Before We Hit the Ground," the series’ opening episode, reveals the tough process of approaching the races. The weeks leading up to the start of the new season are indeed a crucial phase, experienced with total intensity and concentration. These are days of strong emotions, adrenaline-pumping anticipation, mental and physical preparation. But none of this transpires externally. That is why Alfa Romeo offers “beyond the visible,” reporting everything that precedes the highly anticipated inaugural race of the world championship. During the weeks leading up to the event, motivation, passion and focus become the key to pursuing one common goal: speed.

Protagonists of the first episode are the managers of a team who work hard to define strategies and goals aimed at getting the most out of the group, continuing motivation at the highest level.

However, the partnership between Alfa Romeo and Sauber goes far beyond Formula 1. After all, F1 is the laboratory of experimentation and excellence: groundbreaking in its electrification strategy, at the cutting-edge of big data and artificial intelligence management, and in the development of next-generation software. These are key areas for Alfa Romeo, making technological excellence a priority. These two entities are devoted to performance, representing a symbiotic relationship. The unmatchable know-how and heritage of Alfa Romeo, a manifesto of noble sportsmanship since 1910, from the Centro Stile Alfa Romeo in Turin collaborate closely with the Sauber Factory in Hinwil, where drivers Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu work alongside engineers and mechanics refining constantly evolving strategies and technical solutions. The task entrusted to the designers is fundamental and complex at the same time. They work on the car's aerodynamic solutions together with the engine and chassis engineers, with the goal of designing a single-seater that meets the new regulations, at the same time guaranteeing performance excellence.

In addition to technique, there is a human component made up of intense training sessions to arrive at the race in perfect physical and mental condition, with athletic and technical tests simulating activities in the paddocks and sessions spent in the simulator.

Cristiano Fiorio, Alfa Romeo F1 Manager
“Beyond the Visible” is an ambitious project that perfectly represents the values of the brand. Alfa Romeo, which from its origins represents noble Italian sportiness, has always distinguished itself throughout its history by a bold attitude capable of transferring visceral emotions to all car and performance enthusiasts. The “Beyond the Visible” project is no exception: engaging and inclusive, true to the brand's DNA.

Away from the spotlight, more than 500 professionals of the Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN, each with a key role and precise goals, work every day to chase perfection in strategic, mechanical and engineering choices, because only those who approach it can compete in Formula 1. Starting today and thanks to Alfa Romeo, the public will have the opportunity to get to know and feel part of all this. “Before We Hit the Ground” is just the first of five episodes that will be posted on the Alfa Romeo’s official social media and YouTube channels throughout the 2022 racing season. Alfa Romeo Tonale Stars at 40th Edition of 1000 Miglia

June 17, 2022, Auburn Hills, Mich. - The 40th edition of the re-enactment of the 1000 Miglia, the “the world’s most beautiful race” according to Enzo Ferrari, is underway and will start from Brescia on June 15 and return on June 18 after making stops at some of Italy’s most charming locations. Half race and half adventure, this year the 1000 Miglia will include more than 400 priceless vintage cars, 118 of which belong to the brands Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Lancia — a team of undisputed leaders in Italian motorsports.

As usual, Alfa Romeo is the star of the event with 50 of its vehicles at the starting line, the most of any other brand. These include three models from the brand’s private collection, which are normally on display at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese: the 6C 1500 Super Sport from 1928, the 1900 Sport Spider from 1954 and the 1900 Super Sprint from 1956.

These three jewels of the historical collection are being led by exceptional teams. Driving 2019’s winning vehicle, the 6C 1500 Super Sport, there is the multi-titled couple (in sport, life and in their careers as pediatricians) of Giovanni Moceri and Valeria Dicembre. Meanwhile, on board the 1900 Super Sprint, there are two representatives of Alfa Romeo manufacturing: Francesco Pirozzi, a member of the body shop at the Giambattista Vico plant in Pomigliano, and Cristina Posta, an employee of the assembly department at the Cassino plant. Finally, Alessandro Alunni Bravi, the managing director of Sauber Motorsport, and Vicki Piria, the driver and sports commentator, make up the team competing on board the 1900 Sport Spider.

These three extraordinary, moving works of art belong to the private Heritage collection, the Stellantis department dedicated to the protection and promotion of the historical heritage of Alfa Romeo. The spirit with which Alfa Romeo faces the 40th edition of the 1000 Miglia is that which has distinguished the brand from its origins. A brand that has, in performance and competition, a fundamental trait of its DNA of noble sportsmanship since 1910.

Alfa Romeo Tonale will lead Alfa Romeo’s timeless jewels
Throughout its history, Alfa Romeo has always been able to maintain its stature and express its glorious past and inimitable DNA in each of its new models. For this reason, every Alfa Romeo inspires admiration; and this not only holds true for its classic cars, but also for its current ones as well, which will join the 1000 Miglia convoy on its journey through Italy’s most evocative landscapes and towns. The Tonale will also embark upon those roads and enjoy the warmth and affection with which the fans at the 1000 Miglia greet the convoy each year.

Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Super Sport from 1928
All eyes will be glued to the Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Super Sport, whose body was built at the Stabilimenti Farina, as this incredible vehicle from the Alfa Romeo Historical Museum looks to repeat the success it had in the 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2019 editions of this race. It was also victorious in 2007 and 2008 in the 1000 Millas Sport in Argentina. This spectacular vehicle from 1928 is equipped with a 1,487cc six-cylinder engine that supplies a maximum output of 76CV at 4,800 rpm and reaches a maximum speed of 140 km/h. Only 31 of these models were made between 1928 and 1929.

1900 Super Sprint from 1956
This elegant coupé with bodywork by Touring is the "gran turismo" model of the 1900, whose claim "the family car which wins races" made it famous in the 1950s. With sporty performance, which is still impressive today, the Alfa Romeo 1900 Super Sprint is based on a short version of the 1900 sedan body and has a two-liter, four-cylinder engine with the brand’s trademark double camshaft and 115 hp of power at 5,500 rpm. In the 1950s, it was common for the best Italian designers to acquire the rolling chassis from Alfa Romeo and complete it with a body that was designed and produced in-house. The model with the greatest success came from the Milanese company Touring, whose version of the Alfa Romeo 1900C Super Sprint is still considered as one of the most balanced and refined coupés ever produced for the Biscione. Between 1954 and 1955, 300 models were produced.

1900 Sport Spider from 1954
An extremely rare racing Spider - with only two models being made - this model is equipped with a four-cylinder “1900” double camshaft and able to reach 220 km/h thanks to its weight of 880 kilograms and particularly efficient aerodynamics. Standing out for its innovative design by Franco Scaglione for Carrozzeria Bertone, the 1900 Sport Spider is equipped with a 5-speed transmission and a De Dion rear axle. Its performance and driving are as good as a modern vehicle, with superior and reactive handling and elevated road holding. This extraordinary vehicle will be driven by Alessandro Alunni Bravo, the managing director of Sauber Sport (Alfa Romeo’s partner in the “circus” of Formula 1), together with the young driver and sports commentator Vicki Piria, who, though not yet in her 30s, already has an impressive professional career in the racing world.
